When you get to Hoover, you may start to see some people hanging together, creating cliques. Just be yourself and join whichever one you think supports you the best. To get into the one you want, you might need some tips.

• First, if one of your friends is making a joke about you, laugh at it too, because they probably are just trying to be funny.
• Make jokes about yourself. No one gets mad, and they might be funny. You can make jokes about other people too, just not too mean, because then you will be a bully and not a friend.
• Be yourself. Everyone tells you this, but it is a big help. If you try to be someone your not, it might work for a while, but it will run out eventually, and no one will trust you again.

It doesn't matter if you are into the latest trends or music. I love classic rock, but not rap so much. Don't be hypnotyzed by the "popular" kids. In the end, you are the ones who make them popular by treating them different and cool. Treat them as if they were your friends, and everyone could be equal. Same goes for those "less popular" kids. Treat everyone the same and you will survive middle school.
